No Mud - No Lotus: The Art of Transforming Suffering

A little bit
about me and
my work
I'm André Luiz, a psychiatrist, Yoga teacher, educator and Trauma specialist .
Originally from Salvador (BR), I’ve been working in psychiatry since my residency at Hospital Juliano Moreira. I expanded my professional experience in São Paulo (BR) and studied in Hungary, where I deepened my understanding of the connection between art, health, and psychiatry.
I specialized in the neurobiological impact of trauma at the Trauma Informed Practice Institute (Vancouver, BC) and currently contribute to research on mental health among minorities at the SHERPA University Institute and McGill University (Montréal, QC).
A longtime student of Buddhism and certified in Vinyasa Yoga, I bring meditation and the principle of non-violence (ahimsa) into my clinical work. My goal is to offer a space of attentive listening to honor your story and your traumas, strengthen your autonomy, and support meaningful change.
Let's walk this journey together!
